When a taxi is enough
Let's be honest — the taxi has its merits.
- A short city ride, by day, when you speak some Arabic or French and know how to negotiate.
- Tight budget, solo traveller with no luggage, comfortable with the unexpected.
- Spontaneity — no need to book.
The "petit taxi" (urban) and "grand taxi" (intercity) are part of the Moroccan experience. For a well-negotiated daytime ride, they're great.
When a private transfer makes all the difference
- On arrival from a flight, especially long or at night: stepping out and finding your driver waiting is an immense relief.
- With family or a group: a suitable van, child seats, room for luggage.
- If you speak neither Arabic nor French: zero barrier, everything is clear.
- Heading to a riad in the medina: the driver knows the nearest gate and helps you.
- When you want a fixed price: no haggling while exhausted after travelling.

At Marrakech-Menara and Casablanca-Mohammed V, official taxis exist — but without a systematic meter, the fare is quoted (and negotiated) on arrival.
