Morocco 10-Day Itinerary with a Private Driver
Guides & tips for travelling in Morocco
Ten days is the sweet spot to combine Morocco's three faces — imperial cities, the Sahara, and the Atlantic coast — without rushing. Here is a proven day-by-day grand tour, with real distances and the stops that matter.
The grand loop (day by day)
- Day 1 — Casablanca. Arrival, Hassan II Mosque, drive to Rabat (overnight).
- Day 2 — Rabat → Fes (~250 km). Rabat highlights (Udayas, Hassan Tower), on to Fes.
- Day 3 — Fes. The world's largest medina; tanneries, madrasas. Optional Meknes & Volubilis.
- Day 4 — Fes → Merzouga (~470 km, via Ifrane, Azrou cedars, Midelt). Arrival in the Sahara.
- Day 5 — Merzouga. Erg Chebbi dunes, camel sunset, night in a desert camp.
- Day 6 — Merzouga → Dades/Todra (~300 km). Todra Gorges, road of a thousand kasbahs.
- Day 7 — Dades → Ouarzazate → Marrakech (~350 km). Ait Ben Haddou, the Tichka pass.
- Day 8 — Marrakech. Medina, souks, gardens, hammam.
- Day 9 — Marrakech → Essaouira (~190 km) or a day trip (Ourika/Agafay).
- Day 10 — Departure. Airport transfer, flight tracking included.
Flexible: swap Essaouira for more desert time, or start/end in Marrakech.
Distances & times (don't underestimate)
| Leg | Distance | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Fes → Merzouga | ~470 km | ~7-8h (with stops) |
| Merzouga → Dades | ~300 km | ~5h |
| Ouarzazate → Marrakech | ~200 km | ~4h (Tichka) |
| Marrakech → Essaouira | ~190 km | ~2h30 |
A private driver turns these long legs into part of the journey — no driving fatigue, the best photo stops, and good tables.
